Senior HR Consultant - Bristol

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Senior HR Consultant to work with the People Directorate HR Team and to join Bristol City Council, a diverse and ambitious organisation.

This role is part-time working 25 hours per week.

What will I be doing?

As part of the wider HR Team we are currently going through an exciting period in HR with a new HR/Payroll system currently being implemented which will give managers more control in the management of their employees, as well as the implementation of a new Organisational Implementation Plan which will have a major impact across the council.

Specifically, you will work as part of a small, professional team who look after the People Directorate, which includes Adult Services, Children’s Services, Education and Skills and Public Health, in all matters HR. 

This role offers an opportunity to provide a highly pro-active, professional HR offer, working with business leaders across the Directorate to achieve our performance objectives including high aspirational transformation programmes across both Childrens and Adults services.

The key objectives of the role are:

- to consistently and robustly tackle high volume complex HR casework,
- identify areas of high sickness absence and support managers in effective and efficient closure of cases
- support managers in the management of disciplinary and grievances in a speedy and effective manger
- Supporting in the resolution of challenging employee relations issues across the Directorate

What do I need to Apply?

You will hold the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) qualification and experience and in-depth knowledge of the delivery of HR services in two or more of the following areas:

- Equality and Diversity
- Employee Engagement
- Service Delivery and Leading HR
- Strategy, Performance and Reward
- Employee Relations & Employment Law
Along with this you will have excellent communication, negotiation and consultative skills.  Good team working and the ability to work on your own initiative is essential.
