Accountancy Assistant - Tunbridge Wells

We are looking to recruit an Accountancy Assistant to help ensure that the high performing Local Authority continues to manage its resources effectively and efficiently. The successful candidate will carry out financial reconciliations (including bank and systems), cash management and support operational departments with their management accounts.

You will be part of a small team and will learn to cover for other roles in the department, learning how to reconcile the main bank account, create a set of management accounts and provide audit papers for statutory accounts, making the role varied and interesting. We are always looking for ways of improving our services and you will be expected to suggest ideas to enhance the processes and procedures you carry out and to implement change.

You will have experience operating within a finance function, have excellent customer service skills and be confident in dealing with people at all levels of the organisation.

The post requires great attention to detail and accuracy, together with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. It is also necessary to be able work with colleagues in order to achieve strict month end deadlines. We are looking for a team player with a positive attitude, who can multi-task and is willing to rise to a challenge. You will also have the opportunity to immediately begin studying for a professional accountancy qualification, for which support will be provided.

Additional benefits include 22 days annual leave (increasing to 27 days after 5 years continuous service) and membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
