Full time

Wokingham, South Central

TARCB061

Description

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and passionate individual, who holds either their BC Coach Award or RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor qualification. Ideally this candidate will also hold a variety of other NGB outdoor sports qualifications. If the candidate has some archery or rock climbing tickets this would be a bonus. A background in sports development or centre management / administration would be desirable.

As a Senior Instructor we will expect you to lead groups of clients, individuals and staff as required by the Activity Centre Manager, and to make sure that these activities meet the standards required in the centre operating procedures. You will also be responsible for developing the activity programme, applying for funding grants and liaising with NGB’s about participation uptake data.

As part of the centre management team you will occasionally be required to deputise for the Manager, and lead on customer care. Other responsibilities will include centre administration, front of house duties, resource allocation, session planning, and risk assessment reviewing. You will also be expected to manage training and development opportunities for instructors, offsite events, and coordinate maintenance tasks. The team of instructors that you will be looking after currently stands at around 30 individuals, with a wealth of experience and diversity between them. You will be working alongside another permanent Senior Instructor.

Over the winter months the candidate will be involved in analysing the course statistics, developing and expanding the programme for the following year and producing creative content for marketing material. Other off season duties will include the procurement of new equipment, maintenance of existing and the development of our staff team.

Wokingham Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff, other workers and volunteers to share this commitment.  All successful candidates for this role will be subject to Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks along with other relevant employment checks.
